I think I like this release the most out of all the recent Tei Shi releases but I will listen to La Linda all the way through ... someday.

Advance Base - Rabbits

I've often wondered why music videos don't take a literal interpretation of the song itself. Finally seeing one, I realize that maybe focusing on the lyrics too much does take away from the creativity allotted within the video. So... uh... yeah.

"Rabbits" by Advance Base from their 2018 album Animal Companionship

Rich Aucoin - The Other

Rich Aucoin was also performing at The Bentway event tonight but it was a bit too late for me to stay for that. I haven't really followed them since "It". Here's another well produced music video, filmed partially around Robarts.

Bernice - He's The Moon

Went to an event at The Bentway tonight. The theme of the night was the moon, in commemoration of the Harvest Moon and the fact that the event was held by a moon exhibit. Was surprised to find out both Bernice and Rich Aucoin were playing. As far as Bernice goes, I haven't seen them since The Great Hall around probably 7 years ago (??). Anyway, here's a theme-appropriate song they performed tonight. They all looked like they were having fun. Glad to see that still.

Teenage Bad Girl - Keep Up With You

Since I've been taking this trip down memory lane recently, here's another one of my classic playlist numbers that I've not posted here before. Sick keytar solo guys. But memory lane is also sad to start seeing all these bands disbanding. C'est la vie.

"Keep Up With You" by Teenage Bad Girl from their 2011 album Backwash

Barenaked Ladies - Call & Answer

I can always sing to this ... even if the lyrics aren't as relevant to me these days. I wouldn't mind if people kept making music like this. Steven Page does have his solo stuff going on now so I'll make sure to check out his second album soon (it's sitting in the queue).

milk. - Paula

Wow, that was unexpectedly great. The sound is amazingly clear for a live set. BalconyTV has really stepped up its game since the last time I had listened to them. Um, the interview portion is poorly mic'd but that's less important lol.

"Paula", a to-be-released single, by milk. (the period is very important)

The Honeysticks - Out Like A Light 2

This is such an old school form of social media. I guess this has always just been an outlet for me to muse when I find something musically appealing. I've been listening to a lo-fi indie playlist and have been adding a bunch of new things.

I really enjoyed listening to this song. The way it slow transitions from a laid back acoustic to an emotional swell, the way it weaves the vocal sample in after the first verse and the way that story itself was told, the way it just feels honest and refreshing. When I share songs with people, I sometimes get the response that "it's just a song". Well, no, songs are stories; stories by people; people close to us and far away; all living life and wanting to express its significance in their own way. That's why I think, even after the many times I take breaks from this blog, I'll still end up coming back to here to list another song. It's important to keep track of these memories.
